Priest facing child pornography charges to be extradited

Being accused of a crime as serious as uploading or viewing child pornography is not only a possibly life-changing event, but one that could influence your life even if you aren't found to be guilty. It's important to defend yourself from the start; understand what you do or don't have to comply with and what the officers or detectives need before they can view your personal belongings. Your attorney should be present before you're interviewed, so you know when you have to answer or not.

In this case, a priest in New Jersey faces child pornography charges following his arrest. According to the story, the charges come out of Pennsylvania where he will be extradited to for trial; he has a second home in the state.

This is an interesting case because the detectives do not have the man's original laptop on which they allege he committed the crimes. The man has not admitted to possessing child pornography and is accused of being deceptive simply because of shuffling uncomfortably in his seat, tearing up at the accusations being discussed with him and having a dry mouth when he was arrested and interviewed by detectives.

Right now, he is being charged with 20 counts for the possession of child pornography and for another 20 counts for the dissemination of child pornography. He was arrested after police confirmed tips that he had acquired dozens of photos and videos from the internet while in Pennsylvania. It's not clear who tipped off police, if the tips were accurate or from this man's computer. He has not given the detectives permission to view his computer.
