Man admitted downloading child pornography

If a person is a registered sex offender in Pennsylvania or another state and does something that causes trouble with the law, immediate negative consequences may occur. One man in another state was sent to jail on a $5,000 bail after appearing in court on a recent Monday. Authorities say he admitted that he had downloaded child pornography.

The man is a registered offender who has allegedly told law enforcement agents that he is attracted to a certain age group of girls, but he also said he has never acted on those feelings. Authorities say they received a report of an online document storage account that contained hundreds of images of possible pornography involving children. Investigating officers say they traced the account to the man.

The man had been placed on probation in 2005 after being convicted for child-related offenses. The recent incidents include further allegations that the man used internet services offered at a local business establishment to download illegal videos and pictures. The 39-year-old now faces 14 separate counts of possession of child pornography.

The man has also been charged as a registered sex offender who intentionally photographed a minor. He is said to have told police that he was collecting child pornography to bring to the attention of authorities so that it could be investigated. Violating probation under such circumstances could have potentially severe consequences. However, even a person already on probation in Pennsylvania has the right to fight the against any new charges that may be filed. Seeking immediate guidance from a criminal defense attorney would be advisable in such situations.
