Man pleads guilty to identity theft and more in Pennsylvania

A 23-year-old man who came to the United States from another country was charged with, and has pleaded guilty to, several crimes. Apparently, the man was living with foster parents, whom he now says he was conspiring with to commit deceptive and unlawful acts. Officials have stated that they have never seen someone go to such great lengths to commit identity theft as the man in this situation did.

The man arrived in the United States from the Ukraine. His current situation has made him vulnerable for deportation, but that will be decided at the federal level, once he has served his criminal sentence. The incidents to which he pleaded guilty include posing as a high school student and attending classes in a Pennsylvania school, and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.

Officials say the man went to great lengths to carry out his deception under a false name and age. He is said to look very young in appearance, which may have helped convince others he was actually a high-school age student. No charges have been filed against the man's foster parents, but he has told authorities that he conspired with them to commit the fraudulent acts.

The man now faces up to 40 years in prison for the identity theft and other crimes to which he has pleaded guilty. The education he received in Pennsylvania is valued at more than $2,000. This means the fraud he committed is considered a third degree felony. When facing such serious penalties for a criminal conviction, it is always advisable to seek experienced guidance from a criminal law attorney.
