Several people were recently arrested following two apparent drug busts in Pennsylvania. Charges include drug conspiracy and weapons violations. Penalties for convictions for such crimes are often quite severe, and to increase one's chances of avoiding incarceration, or at least minimizing the negative impact of the situation, it is advisable to act alongside experienced defense counsel when facing such charges in court.
Two of the four men were arrested after police claimed to have found money, drugs and weapons at an address at which they had arrived with a search warrant. Supposedly, officers say they seized more than $6,000 in heroin, as well as more than $1,000 each in cocaine and cash. They also apparently took possession of two guns during the search.
Those men now both face conspiracy charges, in addition to possession with intent to distribute cocaine and heroin. The following day, another incident took place during which police say they found a stolen gun and almost $200 worth of cocaine. Two more men were charged with various drug and weapons offenses, one of which included endangering the welfare of children.
All four persons arrested in the recent Pennsylvania drug conspiracy incidents are between 24 and 29 years of age. As others in similar situations have done, they may want to build as strong of defense strategies as possible in hopes of avoiding long-term negative repercussions. A first logical step to take toward successful defense is to contact an experienced criminal lawyer for assistance. Typically, an attorney can begin the process by investigating the events that led to an arrest to determine whether any personal rights were violated in the process, after which he or she can begin exploring all options available.
