Defendant plans to appeal child solicitation decision

| Jul 27, 2016 | Internet Crimes |

A man was recently convicted of committing illicit acts against six girls. The situation unfolded after several incidents took place, and parents of several of the girls recently spoke in court. The man who was convicted of child solicitation and other heinous acts in Pennsylvania apparently has plans to file an appeal regarding the court’s decision, according to his newly appointed attorney.

It was November 2015 when the man was reportedly convicted on 40 out of 45 counts against him. The conviction involved sexual assaults that are said to have taken place between 2011 and 2014. Those the man is convicted of assaulting were all under age 13.

As is often the case, the penalties for conviction for child endangerment, rape and other sexually related crimes may be quite severe. In this particular situation, the man has been sentenced to 43 to 86 years in prison. He has also incurred approximately $6,000 in fines.

The man in question apparently requested a new attorney, citing irreconcilable differences with the person that represented him during his trial. The newly appointed attorney has expressed his client’s desire to appeal his conviction. Time will tell whether such an appeal is successful in court. In the meantime, any other person facing child solicitation charges in Pennsylvania, or someone who has been convicted but wishes to discuss a possible appeal, may request a meeting with an experienced criminal defense attorney to address the issue. In fact, many people seek effective representation even before an arrest has taken place by consulting with an attorney during an investigation.
