Pennsylvania foot doctor facing fraud charges

Many Pennsylvania professionals come under scrutiny from federal agents when suspected of illicit financial activities. A podiatrist in the Havertown area is currently involved in such circumstances. He has been accused of fraud in  scheme that apparently netted millions of dollars.

The foot doctor is facing allegations that claim he is connected to an attempt to defraud Medicaid and Medicare, as well as various other insurance companies, out of $5 million. The alleged fraud scheme took place between 2008 and 2014. The physician is accused of submitting fraudulent claims for services that were never provided.

False claims were also said to have been filed regarding unnecessary medical procedures. A conviction of the supposed crimes carries severe penalties that may include up to 10 years in prison. In addition, the doctor may incur substantial monetary fines and criminal forfeiture if things don't go his way in court.

Several official government entities, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, were involved in the investigation that led to fraud charges against the Pennsylvania podiatrist. In similar situations that have occurred in the state, many defendants have achieved positive results in court by acting alongside experienced legal counsel. An attorney understands that a criminal accusation does not constitute one's guilt, and he or she can often implement strategies to build a strong defense against impending charges on behalf of a client. The first logical step to take is to request a meeting with a defense attorney as soon as one becomes aware that he or she is subject in a federal investigation.
