Man in hotel outside Pennsylvania accused of financial crimes

| May 11, 2016 | Fraud |

One does not typically envision a hotel room as the headquarters of a crime schemes. However, it appears that some financial crimes may have taken place in 2014 at a hotel outside Pennsylvania. Such situations would obviously be uncomfortable for a hotel guest, and the key to a positive outcome may rely on input from an experienced criminal defense lawyer.

The man in question was apparently scheduled to checkout of the hotel one day when police officers arrived at his door. They claim he allowed them to enter and search his room. Apparently, an earlier call from a hotel housekeeper purported that sheets of uncut money were lying around inside the room.

Police say they searched the premises and discovered evidence connecting the man to crimes in several states. Officers also claim that the man was printing approximately $100,000 in counterfeit bills when they arrested him. Reportedly, a printer and documents containing stole identity information were also found during the police search.

If a person were to be convicted of similar financial crimes in Pennsylvania, they may face an extended time in prison or be made to pay substantial monetary fines as retribution. For this reason, it is advisable to secure experienced legal guidance before a trial takes place. An attorney’s knowledge of the law and negotiation skills may prove crucial toward obtaining a positive outcome in court. In fact, an attorney can begin to build a strong defense immediately following an arrest by investigating the process through which that arrest took place.
