Man enters guilty plea for fraud in Pennsylvania

There are any number of reasons that a person might enter a guilty plea when facing criminal charges in Pennsylvania. Typically, one is advised to discuss a situation with a criminal lawyer before making such important decisions. Bedford County authorities say one man recently pleaded guilty to fraud and theft.

The 57-year-old man is apparently the owner of a water park in another state. He reportedly pleaded guilty to six counts of fraud and 11 counts of theft in Pennsylvania. Part of the man's plea agreement secured a reduction of charges from felonies to misdemeanors.

The water park was scheduled to open some time in May. Thus far, no official opening ceremony has taken place. Supposedly, the man committed crimes with regard to various home improvement jobs, including charging people enhanced prices for work on their driveways. Pennsylvania investigators claim they were alerted when the man attempted to cash two checks at different branches of the same bank.

He was booked into a Bedford County jail. Bond was set at a half million dollars. The man was able to post the bond and has since been released from jail. He was made to pay restitution ranging from $700-$12,500 to 14 people.

In Pennsylvania or any state, merely being accused of a crime does not necessarily mean one will be convicted. Often, a key factor toward a positive outcome lies in how strong a defense one is able to present to the court. A criminal defense attorney typically possesses the knowledge and experience necessary to aggressively fight against all types of charges involving fraud.
