A seventh and eighth grade music teacher was arrested on Sunday on a variety of weapons charges. The teacher allegedly fired two shots from a rifle in the direction of two teenagers that were apparently cutting across his property.

The 43-year-old man is reported to have been a teacher for at least the last 16 years. He is now facing a litany of charges including, possession of an instrument of crime, making terroristic threats, simple assault with a deadly weapon, and recklessly endangering another person.

Local law enforcement authorities report that between 6:00 and 6:30 on Sunday evening two 15-year-old were crossing the man’s property to go fishing in a nearby creek. The teens said that then a man started yelled at them telling them not to walk where they were walking and that he had firearms. They also reported that the man appeared intoxicated.

The two teens left the man’s property, but as they were doing so, they heard two gunshots and saw that the man was holding a rifle. The boys escaped into the woods and then ran home and called police. They later identified the teacher as the man who had yelled and shot at them.

Police took the teacher into custody and a search of his home uncovered a .22 caliber rifle in his basement. The man has now been arranged and is being held n Bucks County Correctional facility in lieu of bail.

The school district declined to comment beyond saying that student safety is their primary concern and that they have already assigned a substitute teacher.
