Lack of sure evidence leads to dismissed murder case

In each and every case that presses a defendant with criminal charges, it is the responsibility of the prosecution to present evidence and testimony that clarifies guilt to the judge and jurors presiding beyond a reasonable doubt.

Mere suspicion and possible motive are not enough for a conviction, and often times defense attorneys are able to forward a successful motion to have a case and its charges dismissed if adequate evidence has not been presented by prosecutors. As a great number of Pennsylvania residents are pressed with serious charges resulting from violent crimes each year, the outcome of a very recent Midwest murder case is of particular interest.

The defendant, a resident of Hart, Michigan, had been facing charges of murdering his estranged wife. However, no eyewitnesses or biological evidence was brought forward by prosecuting attorneys, and medical examiners were never able to confidently identify foul play the woman's death.

In spite of audible expressions of disappointment from many in the courtroom, the case's judge made his decision clear, dismissing jurors and allowing the defendant to walk out a free man.

A testament to the importance of a strong and experienced defense attorney, the Michigan case is itself proof that getting in touch with a lawyer and building a thorough defense should be the first priority of someone implicated in a crime, especially ones of a serious and violent nature.
